In order to take ownership of the Trollskull Manor estate as equal owners, the city of Waterdeep required that we register as an adventuring group. However we never really discussed working together long term as we barely knew one another, but here we were agreeing to collectively own a large estate. I really hope this doesn’t turn out to be a huge mistake. We settled on a name for our little crew, The Favored Few, and registered ourselves as owners of the manor. After taking care of all the particulars we walked to our new property.
Rounding the bend into Trollskull Alley we caught our first glimpse of Trollskull Manor, a dilapidated husk of a building with shattered windows and missing doors. I think it was at this point that we all realized this was going to be a huge drain on what little gold we had and we were going to have to put in a lot of work to make it habitable. We walked through the hole on the first flooe where the front door was supposed to be and realized the entire first floor must have been a tavern. There’s a very large bar with an attached kitchen and room for a lot of tables and chairs.
Upstairs there’s several more floors, room enough for each of us to have our own sleeping quarters along and maybe even a room for each of us to work or relax in. I was most excited to find what appears like it could have been a large library. There’s no books, shelves or really anything else in there right now but the potential is there. I expect it will cost a small fortune just in books alone.
After exploring the remainder of the building we met back up in the bar and decided what to do next. Toshi and Greemus mentioned needing to take care of some personal matters while Duelo and Melandran wanted to get some shopping done. Someone needed to start cleaning this place up so I volunteered to get started while the others were away. A little while later as I was carefully picking up shards of glass off the hardwood floors there was a sudden rush of wind behind me. It was Volothe!
He said he had come to congratulate me on my progress and to help me learn a couple more spells that would aid me in my journey. He took one look around at the huge mess still ahead of me and offered me a helper of sorts. He said all I need to do is clear my mind and concentrate on what task I need completed and it will be done. I did what he instructed and focused as hard as I could for what felt like an eternity but suddenly a ghostly aparition of a hunchbacked goblin appeared and began picking up all the glass. He also spent some time teaching me how to weaken my enemies and to magically retaliate if something should attack me. As I was practicing these new skills with him, we could hear the group returning from their shopping trip but before I could introduce them to Volothe there was that sound of rushing wind again and he was gone.
Excited to show them what I learned, I pointed their attention to the goblin, which I had started referring to as Nix, but none of them could see him, only floating shards of glass and wood splinters. I guess I have an imaginary friend now.
