The Githzerai landed not in the endless, churning chaos of Limbo, but deep inside a dark, ancient forest. It was a sudden, jarring shift, and the mental threads that linked them to their homes were violently ripped away. A terrible panic might have taken them, but their deep, harsh discipline immediately kicked in. The revered Zerths were the first to recover, rising to guide a people who felt completely lost. They did not shout commands. Instead, they showed everyone how to build peace from the inside out. Tiny, self-reliant groups began to form, each one led by an experienced Zerth master. They called these new places the Vashin, small communes dedicated to finding inner calm and making sure everyone lived together in harmony. The Githzerai were quiet, sensing the hidden pools of astral energy sleeping within the earth, and they used this power to keep themselves alive.
Hundreds of years crawled by. The isolated Vashin started reaching out, sharing the knowledge and deep philosophical insights they had found. Around 6,350 BR, the wisest Zerths and most thoughtful minds gathered for a huge council. They needed a way to truly work together without losing the self-rule each community had fought for. Out of this need came K’tarsis, a central place where every commune could have a say and where everyone focused on making life better for the whole. This was a time of serious thinking and intellectual growth. The Githzerai created their famous fighting styles and mental disciplines, not to win a war, but to master themselves. The single most important person then was Zerth Sael’kar of the Still Mind, a master who lived apart from others. He created a set of psionic katas, special routines that let Githzerai turn their inner power into defenses or tools for creation. Sael’kar taught that the real fight was never with an enemy, but always with the turbulent, messy nature inside your own heart.
The Stellar Rupture changed everything. A sudden, massive wave of astral energy washed over the entire world, and the Githzerai felt their mental powers surge like a river overflowing its banks. It was a terrifying and thrilling moment, opening up new chances they hadn’t imagined. When they saw how much magic was loose in the world, the Githzerai realized they could finally connect their strict mental training with the planet’s wild, natural power. Their government had to change to handle this. By 1,072 AR, the Zerths and scholars joined to create Arcalis, a true council where all major choices were settled by a vote among the most learned. This structure was meant to collect all the psionic and intellectual might of their people for one good goal. Scholar Malyx of the Reshaped Earth, a genius in using the mind to build things, was put in charge of raising huge new cities. These places weren’t just constructed. They were literally pulled and shaped from the very stone and earth of their ancient forest home, woven together by nothing more than pure thought. This era was filled with invention, pushing the Githzerai out to explore the whole island for the first time, building outposts to finally understand their new world.
Over the following centuries, the Githzerai kept working to make their society better, cutting out any waste or confusion. A whole new group of psionic masters was born right there on the land of Kemet, so they felt the world’s energy in a completely new way. This led to a final change in how things worked. The Githzerai finally unified under a single, ruling power, which they called the Telarian. You didn’t become a leader by luck or birthright. You had to earn it through a mix of raw skill and spiritual wisdom. Anyone who rises to lead the Telarian state must give up their personal name and is simply known as At’tunen, a Zerth who is unmatched in mental and philosophical power. Their society became a shining example of peace and perfect order, a stark contrast to the rough war-states nearby. The Telarian focused on making every citizen better and pushing the limits of knowledge. Their halls were stacked with ancient psionic scrolls, and their schools taught only the most rigorous study of the universe and the inner self.
Now, the Githzerai live in a state of quiet, powerful vigilance. The Telarian has achieved a perfect, unified goal, where every single person gives their best, unique talent to the whole. Their vast cities are literally living sculptures created by pure thought. Their people are masters of their bodies and minds. Their knowledge of the universe grows daily. Even though the great war they always prepare for has never truly broken out, they are ready for it. Secure in their powerful isolation, the Githzerai remain truly masters of their own destiny.
